Online Retailer Refunds Oregon Shoppers

OnlineSALEM, Ore. — Oregonians who were unknowingly charged for items on an online website, could get some money back.

The State Department of Justice reached a settlement with the Florida-based Internet retailer, Best Brand Values. More than 5,000 people who clicked on a free-shipping icon were automatically enrolled into a membership.

That membership charged a monthly fee and some members paid more than $1,000 over time without knowing. The retailer agreed to refund more than a quarter-million dollars to those members.

Anyone who was charged for this fee will be getting a claim form in the mail.
