PORTLAND, Ore. – Oregonians may soon get the chance to vote again on same-sex marriage for the state. Activists are hoping to gather enough signatures to get an initiative on the November 2014 ballot.
A website called Oregon United for Marriage is now active, with signature-gathering efforts officially beginning Friday.
Supporters can sign the petition online, and advocates are expected to travel the state, gathering signatures by hand as well.
The campaigns goal is to collect 10,000 signatures in the first 10 days. They must turn in 116,284 valid signatures by July 3, 2014.
