CENTRAL POINT, Ore. — On Labor Day,  firefighters, police officers and hospital staff got a free meal.

More than 750 Olive Garden restaurants participated and served lunch to those for working Monday. In Southern Oregon, the restaurant served lunch to Fire District No. 3. Firefighters got some pasta, breadsticks and salad.

“I think its pretty great! Wasn’t expecting this, I just showed up, heard about it this morning and we thank them very much,” said firefighter Manny Gobel

“It’s just nice, it brings everybody together. We always sit down and eat family style at the dinner table and it’s just a nice way to do it,” said intern Jordan Abbott

Olive Garden has served food to the search and rescue team in years past.
