Officer Injured After Woman Strikes Car

BEND, Ore. — A Bend-area woman was arrested early Wednesday morning after striking a police officer’s car from behind during a traffic stop. The woman faces several charges, one of which includes DUII. The Bend officer was injured and taken to a local hospital where he was treated and later released.

The accident took place shortly after midnight on Wednesday morning. Officer Justin Lovrien had just concluded a traffic stop along the northbound lanes of Bend Parkway and was seated in his patrol car. His vehicle was then struck from behind by 35 year old Bend native, Tina Rae Taylor.

Officer Lovrien, a 10-year Bend Police Department veteran, was transported by ambulance to St. Charles Medical Center in Bend with minor injuries. He was treated and then discharged.

Taylor was not injured and subsequent to the police investigation she was arrested and taken to the Deschutes County Jail. Her charges include DUII, assault in the third degree, and reckless driving.
