ODF Says Hayes Hill Fire Under Control

NEAR SELMA, Ore. — Oregon Department of Forestry says they have the Hayes Hill Fire contained.

The fire size is estimated at 5.5 acres, and a fire line has been completed around the perimeter. ODF says the mopping up process has been initiated. However there are currently logging decks that continue to smolder and remain active.

ODF says a contracted excavator is on scene working to disperse logging slash to facilitate mop up. These smoldering decks are currently putting up quite a bit of smoke and depending on winds smoke may be present in the Wonder, Selma and Wilderville areas.

No homes or other structures are immediately threatened by the fire. The cause of the fire is being investigated.
