NEAR GOLD HILL, Ore. – ODF is responding to a fire in Gold Hill area. It’s burning in an area that some say is especially dry and of concern.
ODF says the fire is located at Highway 234 and is 5 acres. ODF says that the fire is on Nugget Butte, 2 miles north of Gold Hill and Highway 234 is closed in that area.
Terrain is steep and heavily-wooded, burning quickly up a ridge. Steven Sandberg reports that helicopters have been seen dumping water on the fire, as well as air tankers have flown over and drop fire retardant.

The forestfire in Goldhill is now 20 acres and 50% contained. The forest service is hopefull of full containment soon depending on winds.
I heard this on my scanner.
