President Obama Awards Medal of Honor

(CNN) — Former Army Staff Sergeant Clint Romesha received the Medal of Honor today for “conspicuous gallantry” beyond the call of duty.

The 31-year-old was recognized for his actions during a deadly attack on his unit at a remote Afghanistan outpost in 2009. More than half of their 53-soldier contingent were killed or wounded including Romesha who was wounded by a rocket-propelled grenade.

Romesha is the fourth living person to receive the nation’s highest military decoration for actions in Afghanistan or Iraq.
