MEDFORD, Ore. — A public comment period is underway for those who want their opinions heard with the new Highway 62 corridor proposal.
There are several routes proposed and the Oregon Department of Transportation told NewsWatch12 the changes will increase safety while decreasing congestion.
The public can mail or e-mail their comments to O-DOT or attend a public hearing on October 17th. O-DOT officials say every comment is taken into consideration.
“Every comment is important. Each comment is then cataloged as far as type of comment then it’s responded to in the final environmental impact statement that we hope to have out this winter,” explained Gary Leaming, an O-DOT official.
The public comment period will run until October 29th. O-DOT officials said construction on the project could begin as soon as 2014.
