GRANTS PASS, Ore. — A fire caused serious property damage but no injuries early Sunday morning. At approximately 1:32 A.M., the Grants Pass Department of Public Safety received emergency calls of a person screaming her house was on fire in the area of NW A Street and NW Kinney.

Upon arrival, fire crews found a two story duplex with heavy fire and smoke showing from both floors. Fire personnel were able to keep the fire from spreading, limiting it to only the one structure. The residents of the duplex were evacuated and no one was reported injured.

One neighbor said once the fire started it grew quickly.

“It went really fast.. it was like smoke… and in minutes it was nothing but flames… going out the back door… through the roof.. and out the front,” said Brian Sheets.

Fire and medical personnel from Rural Metro and American Medical Response assisted Grants Pass Department of Public Safety with fire suppression efforts. The duplex received heavy damage. The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
