MEDFORD, Ore. — After months of construction, the expansion of the NICU center at the Rogue Regional Medical Center, is finished.
A special ceremony broke through a wall on December 1st. Now, almost 9 month later, it is ready to care for pre-mature babies from all over the region and into Northern California.
This new expansion will allow capacity to go from 20, to more than 32 patients. Previously, when the center was full, babies had to go to other hospitals in the area.
The family-friendly private rooms make overnight stays for new parents, more comfortable. The NICI originally opened in 1974 with only 9 beds.
