Erin Maxson stays up late with you, anchoring Newswatch 12 at 11:00.
In March of 2009, Erin drove the three day trek from Iowa to Oregon. She joined Ron Brown on NewsWatch 12 This Morning and within a year she was promoted to NewsWatch 12 Weekend where she managed the news and production staff, produced and anchored the weekend newscasts, and reported during the week. In June 2012, Erin joined the #1 news team in the evenings – taking over NewsWatch 12 at 11:00.
Erin is an award winning journalist. Her reporting and producing has earned her and NewsWatch 12 several awards. Most recently Erin produced a half hour special Extreme Makeover: Home Edition Southern Oregon which won recognition for excellence in the special reports/documentary category from The Society of Professional Journalists. Despite leadership responsibilities in the newsroom, Erin still heads into the field for breaking news, special reports and her weekly series Sustainable Table.
Erin was born in Minneapolis, Minnesota but later moved to Decorah, a small, but beautiful town in Iowa. While in high school there, she fell in love with journalism.
As a proud Panther at the University of Northern Iowa, Erin received her Degree in Electronic Media. Along the way she joined the Alpha Delta Pi sorority and served as their chapter president. College also provided Erin with a chance to work with Mark Stines at Entertainment Tonight in Los Angeles after graduation.
After a short run as assistant editor for a small town newspaper in Iowa, Erin landed her first T.V. job at KIMT News 3. There she served the people of North Iowa and Southern Minnesota as weekend anchor and weekday reporter for two years. A special piece on taser guns won Erin an Eric Sevareid Award.
Erin has made southern Oregon her home and is excited to raise her family in the Rogue Valley. If you have a story you’d like Erin to cover or just want to say hi, send her an email.
