WASHINGTON, D.C. — Southern Oregon counties are struggling without federal timber payments and the future those payments is being discussed in Washington D.C.
They are part of the major forestry House bill called “Restoring Healthy Forests for Healthy Communities Act”. Congressman Greg Walden says it contains the O&C trust, conservation and jobs plan offered by the congressmen.
Congressman Walden says the White House is threatening to veto the bill. The White House is concerned about long term forest management. The bill could be on the president’s desk by next week.
