MT. ASHLAND, Ore. — Some of Oregon’s best known ski resorts are going high tech with the help of Google.
The tech giant announced this week that it’s adding trail maps for 100 ski resorts in the U.S. and Canada, including Mt. Hood Meadows and Timberline Lodge Resorts. Skiers can use their smart phones with Google Maps to navigate the trails.
Ski runs will marked by the usual green, blue and black lines to mark the difficulty of the terrain and ski lifts are shown as red dotted lines. Mt. Ashland’s says its runs were documented by Google quite a while ago. A team came out on snow mobiles and made all runs to enter the data.
About 225 ski resorts are now on Google Maps overall.
