New Music Director for Britt

Britt Festival JACKSONVILLE, Ore. — One of Southern Oregon’s oldest and largest performance venues has a new music director of the classical festival.

Britt officials announced Teddy Abrams as the new music director and conductor on Friday. Abrams beat 130 applicants from across the nation and from Europe.

Abrams spent a week at Britt this summer leading the orchestra in two concerts. Britt officials expect Abrams to attract new generations of listeners to that part of the festival.

His new job duties will include selecting guest artists and leading the Britt orchestra. Abrams is already at work on the 2014 season, which will be announced on Tuesday, January 21.
