GRANTS PASS, Ore. – Curbing crime is a top priority of the new Grants Pass mayor. 76% of voters elected long-time resident Darin Fowler.
Darin Fowler has lived in Grants Pass since he was four-years-old and spent the last few years serving on the city council. He told me today that he’d like to keep grants pass moving in the direction it’s already going, but one of his concerns is the relationship between the city and the county.
Of course, public safety is a big issue in the area. Fowlers says he wants to work with the Josephine County Commissioners and the County Sheriff’s Department to find a better solution for public safety in that area, but public safety isn’t the only thing he plans to work on during his time as mayor.
“I’m looking forward to working with local soccer clubs to maybe come up with more soccer fields and maybe have a complex of some sort to have tournaments here, that’s one of the big ones,” said Fowler. “The outgoing mayor is working on bringing a bronze forge here. We’re trying to make sure our Spalding Industrial Park is more shovel ready.”
Fowler will replace current mayor, Mike Murphy, in January 2013.
