CAVE JUNCTION, Ore. — Thirty-eight and a half million dollars is what the two national parks in Southern Oregon are generating for the communities surrounding them.
The National Park Service says it’s part of a $30 billion income from park visits across the nation in 2011. Crater Lake National Park brought in more than 400,000 visitors and $34 million.
$76,000 visitors made the corkscrew drive to the Oregon Caves National Monument, bringing in an estimated $3.8 million to the area.
In total, 279 million visitors toured our national parks in 2011.
