Kerby Man Arrested for Murder

KERBY, Ore. — On September 16, 2013 at approximately 12:15 p.m. detectives arrested Donald Easley, 64, at his residence in the 23000 block of Redwood Highway in Kerby for murder and unlawful use of a firearm.

On September 7, 2013 members of the Josephine County Major Crimes Team, led by Oregon State Police Criminal Investigation Division responded to reports of a shooting involving two neighboring residents. The shooting resulted in the death of Leron Justin Estes, 59, after Estes was transported to Three Rivers Medical Center with a gunshot wound. Easley fired as least one shot from a handgun at Estes causing his death.

Donald Easley was transported by Oregon State Police to the Josephine County Jail where he will be lodged pending his arraignment tentatively scheduled for Tuesday at 1:00 p.m.
