NEAR ASHLAND, Ore. — People may finally be returning home now, after being backed up on Interstate 5 near Ashland this afternoon.
Officials say two accidents forced them to shut down southbound lanes at the area around mile marker 19. Traffic is moving slowly. Vehicles were able to get off the interstate, but not on the interstate.
Oregon Dept. of Transportation reported a crash at MP 14.5 and a secondary crash due to congestion at MP 16 on I-5 near Ashland earlier this afternoon.
ODOT says all lanes are now open in the southbound lanes near Ashland. Watch for congestion and expect delays as traffic clears.
