MEDFORD, Ore. — The camera is up, the lights are on and the set is packed. That set for the film By God’s Grace is the Hearts With a Mission shelter in downtown Medford.
“The story line goes right along with what we’re doing, helping kids out. So anyway I can help in that area, I want to be a part of it,” said Hearts with a mission executive director Kevin Lamson. Lamson said the message of the movie filmed behind the organization’s doors is right in line with the message of Hearts With A Mission.
“That’s why we really wanted to be a part of it. To be able to show that when you do show these kids that you care, something great is going to come out of it,” said Lamson.
Lamson says the children at the shelter wanted to be a part of the film but are away while the lights and cameras are in action. There is local talent in the film. Ariel Strahm from Grants Pass says she’s always had a passion for acting.
“I saw it in the paper and online and I love acting so I thought well I should audition. I didn’t think I would get a part at all but I did, so I’m blessed,” said Strahm
Strahm said she is enjoying being a part of the production and is knows it’s an opportunity few get to have.
“Usually people who live in a small town like me don’t get a chance to be a part of something this professional so the fact that they’re filming down here is a blessing to people like me who want to stick our heads in a little bit,” Strahm said.
