ASHLAND, Ore. — The SOU Raiders turned the ball over five times including once in the final minute as Eastern Oregon upset #25 Southern Oregon 38-37 at Raider Stadium. The Raiders were previously unbeaten on their home field in three years under Craig Howard.
SOU held a 37-24 lead in the second half when the Mountaineers picked off Austin Dodge in the red zone. The Mountaineers then scored on a fourth down to pull within 37-31. SOU tried to run out the clock, but were stopped on a fourth and inches near midfield. This set up Eastern for the go ahead touchdown with less than two minutes to go.
SOU drove down the field and got into field goal position, but Jeremy Scottow was stripped inside the 20 and Eastern Oregon recovered to seal the game. SOU will wrap up its season next weekend on the road against Montana Tech.
