Motorcyclist Killed In Traffic Crash

GRANTS PASS, Ore. — A motorcyclist is dead after a crash on Highway 199.

Grants Pass Department of Public Safety say they received several calls of a car versus motorcycle at the intersection of Redwood Highway and Dowell Road. Officers say a 51-year-old man was riding east on 199 when he was hit when a 70-year-old woman in an SUV crossed his lane to turn onto Dowell Road.

The Grants Pass Department of Public Safety was able to identify and contact the next of kin of Jeffrey Cunningham, who died after he was transfered to Rogue Reginonal Medical Center. The driver of the SUV has been identified as Bonnie McConnell, a Josephine County resident.

The investigation is ongoing; however, at this time, police said criminal charges are not expected to be filed. The GPDPS is asking for assistance from the public. If anyone witnessed the accident they are encouraged to contact the Detective Section of the GPDPS at (541) 450-6260.

why wont charges be filed!!! not following traffic rules and running into bikers is LEGAL. she should be sued for wrongful death and have her lic permanatley revoked!!!!!

  2. Sue Bonneville says:

I feel that she should lose her license and not be able to drive again. We always need to be watchful of motorcycles and be sure to see them. It is really sad that this man had to lose his life because someone was not paying attention,

  3. Dave says:

I ride motorcycles. Let them investigate and take appropriate action.

  4. Neil says:

Charges should be filed, a man is dead because of this woman’s negligence.

  5. shalyn woodham says:

Charges should happen. My friend was hit by a lady who cut her off on her and died. She had charges that were easier then I thought it should have been.

  6. Dee says:

people of her age need to take drivers test each year, they dont turn their necks to look when changing lanes, they can barley walk, but drive??? and yes I ride…

  7. Kirsten says:

If a person has to be a certain age to get his/her license, there should be a cut-off age as well! Strict testing for drivers over the age of 60, is my idea!

  8. Tracy says:

YES!! Charges should be filed! It is clearly her fault if she went into his lane, for ANY reason! If it were a teenager, their license would be taken and they would be charged with wreckless driving, and their insurance either increased or cancelled! So, what is the difference here? Anyone over 65 should have to take a physical driving test, not just the written, and not just RENEWED!! this is what happens. just sayin’….
