KLAMATH FALLS, Ore. — Oregon State Police investigate the death of a Klamath Falls man from a motorcycle-involved traffic crash.
OSP explained that 52-year-old Richard Wrubel was driving a 2005 Suzuki motorcycle, heading westbound on South Side Bypass near the Memorial Drive intersection, where traffic was stopped for a vehicle waiting to turn.
Police said Wrubel lost control attempting to stop, and the motorcycle slid over to the westbound shoulder. Wrubel was ejected and seriously injured. Police said he was wearing a protective helmet. The highway was restricted to one lane for about an hour after the crash.
OSP said Wrubel was transported first to Sky Lakes Medical Center. After being stabilized, he was flown by air ambulance to St. Charles Medical Center in Bend. OSP was notified on Sunday that he died from injuries sustained in the crash. Last month, following several fatal motorcycle crashes, ODOT sent a news release with reminders and safety tips related to motorcycle safety.
