NEAR SHADY COVE, Ore. –  The mop-up process is continuing on the Rogue River Drive Fire near Shady Cove

On Friday, dozens of crews were digging out hot spots.  They are working from outside in, mopping-up 250 feet inside the perimeter.  Fire officials are now calling this fire contained but not controlled.

“If we had a wind event today, and we aren’t finished with this mop-up… it is possible some fire and some heat could light off, you know a tree could start catching on fire and embers could blow across the line, we might be chasing it again like we were a few days ago,” said Eric Bader with Division Hotel working the Rogue River Fire.

The size of the fire has been condensed to 500 acres following a thorough calculation Thursday.  Fire crews on scene are expected to work another all-day shift Saturday.  From there, many could be dispatched to other surrounding fires.
