Monday Wildfire Update

Below is the most up to date information on the wildfires, closures and evacuation orders in place across Southern Oregon and Northern California.

 

Big Windy Complex – 15,278 acres, 15% containment, 1,417 personnel

A Level 2 evacuation is in place from the Marial Lodge, along the Rogue River east to Grave Creek, then north and west on the Marial Byway back to the Marial Lodge. Residents in this area should be prepared to leave if conditions worsen. A Level 1 notice has been issued for the Galice Access Road, north to the Graves Creek Bridge. Level 1 means that hazards from the fire may be severe and precautionary measures should be taken.

Bear Camp Road is officially closed. Burnt Ridge Road is closed from the junction with Forest Road 2300 to the junction with Forest Road 3300. Rogue River trail from Grave Creek to Rogue River Ranch is closed as well.

 

Douglas Complex – 45,411  acres, 48% containment, 2,898 personnel

A Level 2 evacuation remains in effect for McCullough Creek Road , Reuben Road and Mt. Reuben Road in Douglas County and Lower Grave Creek, Grave Creek and Lower Wolf Creek in Josephine County. A Level 2 evacuation allows residents to come and go, but they must be prepared to evacuate at a moments notice. ID must be shown and proof of residence in this area. It is still closed to public traffic. Glendale is at a Level 1 evacuation. The area from the community of Wolf Creek to Watertank Gulch is at a Level 1 evacuation.

Cow Creek Road from Riddle into the fire area and from Glendale into the fire has been closed except for residents.

 

Whiskey Complex – 11,088 acres, 40% containment, 691 personnel

Whiskey — 9,376 acres, Buckeye — 1,682 acres, Smith Ridge — 30 acres

The Smith Ridge Fire is 100% contained and in patrol status. Firefighting equipment is being removed.

The Buckeye Fire is 95% contained and in mop-up and patrol status.

The Whiskey Fire is 40% contained and had very little growth since Sunday.

 

Labrador Fire – 2,020 acres, 0% containment, 75 personnel

Evacuation orders have been reduced to Level 1 for the Oak Flat community in Josephine County. Level 1 means that people should be prepared to evacuate. The former Level 1 evacuation notice for the area between Kerby Flat to McCaleb Ranch has been lifted.

 

Brimstone Fire – 2,372 acres, 100% containment

 

Salmon River Complex (CA) — 9,920 acres, 37% containment, 1,044 personnel

An Evacuation Advisory remains in effect for all residents along the North Fork Salmon River from Kelly Gulch to Idlewild and Mule Bridge to the Marble Mountain Wilderness Boundary.

An evacuation center has been established by the Red Cross at Etna Union High School, 400 Howell Avenue, in Etna. Domestic pets may also be taken to the high school where kennels will be available. Large animals may be taken to the Dean McBroom Ranch at 1442 Sawyers Bar Road in Etna. Call 530-467-3711.

A Forest Order is in effect expanding the prior closure around the Salmon River Complex and Butler Fires on the Klamath and Six Rivers National Forests. Sawyers Bar Road remains closed to public traffic from Etna Summit to the Forks of Salmon. Residents will be allowed through the closure by showing proof of residency. Salmon River Road remains closed west of Forks of Salmon.

Orleans Complex (CA) – 9,092 acres, 20% containment, 1,108 personnel

A Forest Closure is in effect for the areas of Klamath National Forest around the Butler Fire and Salmon River Complex. Highway 93 is closed at the Highway 96 intersection and above the Forks of Salmon store. No access to North Fork/Sawyers Bar Road is available at this time.
