DALLAS, Texas – A case against mail-order pharmacies that were blamed for the death of three Oregonians has been resolved.
The Texas Attorney General’s Office released a statement saying that the Dallas-based companies, Apothecure Inc. and Spectra-Pharm, Inc., will pay up to $200,000. The company is being accused of misbranding a drug ingredient.
The case centers around a February 2007 shipment of gout drug containing dosages more than seven times stronger than what was shown on the label. Autopsies showed three Oregon men suffered fatal overdoses from that drug.
