GRANTS PASS, Ore. — It was a day to remember on the “Travlin’ Two” for several “Miracle Kids” and their families.
“It’s great, it’s a great distraction for her and us too it’s great to go. and for us it’s fun to see the other families outside the hospital.” said Amy Dawson, mother of thirteen year old ‘Miracle Kid’ Hanna Dawson.
All of the Miracle Kids spent time in the neonatal intensive care unit when they were younger, and still often return to the hospital for treatment.
The Dawson family was one of several to ride down the rogue river this afternoon, all thanks to Hellgate Jetboat Excursions.
“These kids have a lot of things in their life that challenge and we wanted to give them a day where they can come out and really enjoy themselves.” said Hellgate Jetboat Excursions General Manager Travis Hamlyn.
This is the first time Hellgate Jetboat Excursions has done this and they were sure to make all accommodations the families would need. Aparamedic was on board the boat as a safety precaution.
Hanna spends a lot of time at the hospital, going every other week. Today’s trip down the river gave Hanna and the other Miracle Kids a chance to take their mind off their health and enjoy the day.
“You know it’s not such a great thing when you’re there so to see them here and all the kids are outside and smiling, that’s pretty cool.” said Amy Dawson.
