ASHLAND, Ore. — Two occupants of a commercial truck were hospitalized after the vehicle went off the southbound lanes of Interstate 5 south of Ashland and crashed on an embankment.
Early Wednesday morning, a commercial truck pulling a box semi-trailer driven by 24-year-old Chett Pickerel was heading southbound when it went off the right shoulder and narrowly missed a large tree before coming to a rest up a hillside embankment.
Pickerel and passenger/co-driver Kenneth Davis, were transported to Ashland Community Hospital with minor injuries. Davis was asleep in the truck’s sleeper berth at the time of the crash. Ashland Fire Department and ODOT responded to the crash.
OSP is continuing the investigation. Driver fatigue is a possible contributing factor.
