MEDFORD, Ore. — Minimum wage workers in Oregon are less than a week away to a raise thanks to the state. Beginning on January 1st, Oregon minimum wage will increase fifteen cents per hour to $9.10.
The changes is projected to impact nearly 100,000 Oregonians. The increase has opposition from business owners, but some workers feel the increase in pay will have a big impact.
“I do feel like, you know, we’re working so much to be so poor sometimes. A little bonus here and there is nice and to know that my paychecks will be a little bit bigger is just wonderful,” said minimum wage worker Tabitha Lambert.
The fifteen cent raise adds up to hundreds of dollars for workers throughout the year and is projected to generate more than $20 million in new consumer spending.
