Mineral and Gem Show to Help Museum

Mineral and Gem Show to Help MuseumCENTRAL POINT, Ore. — Vendors crowded the Jackson County Expo to show off rocks, fossils and minerals at the 59th Annual Rock and Mineral Show.

Kids could create sand stone carvings, watch how jewelry is made and see experts shape and polish gems. Geology enthusiasts use this event to raise money for a local museum.

“This is the annual fundraiser for the Crater Rock Museum. We are a non-profit organization, so all the money we raise here goes right back to the museum to help fund all the other programs we do for the kids,” said Jami Walkins, the event’s director.

The Roxy Ann Gem and Mineral Society hosted the event.
