Across the area today we’ll be seeing fewer areas with smoky skies as winds calm and shift as the system that moved through our region yesterday is now to our east. We’ll continue to see mild temperatures through the end of the week as a trough sits just off the coast moderating our weather. Winds will pick up along the coast today due to this system though and some areas could see gusts up to 25 mph.
Mostly sunny for today with some clouds lingering at the coast and that will be the story through the weekend. We will get a bit of a warming trend as we approach the Labor Day holiday on Monday, making for a very sunny and warm summer holiday weekend.
Hurricane Isaac made landfall yesterday and has become stationary at times bringing torrential rainfall, strong winds and storm surge to the gulf coast. It should weaken as it makes it’s way further inland.
