Middle School Fire Set Intentionally

ASHLAND, Ore. — A fire at Ashland Middle School is determined to have been intentionally set by a student – that is the conclusion of investigators with the Ashland Police Department and Ashland Fire and Rescue.

The student who is suspected of setting that fire in a boy’s restroom on Tuesday has been identified and is said to be cooperating with the investigation.

The fire triggered a second alarm response and the evacuation of the school. All students and staff were able to leave the school safely. The juvenile will be referred to the Jackson County District Attorney’s Office-Juvenile Division for any criminal charges.
