MERLIN, Ore. —  Oregon State Police are continuing their investigation into a Friday night shooting.

According to police, the shooting happened at a trailer park located in the 6000 block of Monument Drive near Merlin.  Multiple people were involved in the shooting.  One person was shot in the leg.  He was transported to three rivers hospital in Grants Pass for treatment.  All of the other people involved in the shooting left the scene before police arrived.

The shooting has some neighbors on edge.

“Having gun play that close to the house is definitely worrying,” said neighbor Regina Richardson. “I’ve actually considered going and getting a gun just because I’m single… I live by myself, and we don’t have sheriff’s patrols.”

According to the preliminary investigation, several people drove to the trailer park and made contact with a man named Dennis Allen Smith.   Police are currently looking for Smith to learn his version of the incident.  Anyone with information is urged to call Oregon State Police at (541) 440-3333.
