Memorial Day Events

There are plenty of events to fill your Monday in memorial of fallen soldiers.

Central Point
9 a.m.
Oregon Fallen War Heroes Memorial
Don Jones City Park

In Central Point, Representative Greg Walden will be at the Oregon Fallen War Heroes Memorial. This ceremony starts at 9 a.m. at Don Jones City Park.

Representative Greg Walden will then lead the ceremony at the Eagle Point National Cemetery at 11 a.m. There will be music from local bag pipers and a helicopter and bi-plane flyover. Senator Ron Wyden will also be at both of those events.

10:30 a.m.
Mountain View Cemetery

In Ashland, guest speakers and music from Rogue New Horizons Band, Southern Oregon Concert Band, Ashland High School Choir will help to host a ceremony at Mountain View cemetery. This will begin at 10:30 a.m.

Klamath Falls
Klamath Memorial Cemetery
6:30 a.m. Sunrise Service
10 a.m. Parade to Veteran’s Park
11 a.m. Military Honors

In Klamath Falls, a sunrise service will begin at 6:30 a.m. at the Klamath Memorial Cemetery on Memorial Drive. At 10 a.m. the annual parade will start on Main Street and head to Veterans Park. Military honors will then be conducted by the Marine Corps League at 11 a.m.

Grants Pass
Hillcrest Memorial Park
12 p.m. Color Guard & Gun Salute

In Grants Pass, one thousand flags will be displayed at the Hillcrest Memorial Park to honor those who gave their lives for freedom. The Marine Corps League will present the day with their color guard and firing squad at noon.

    Memorial Weekend is also the March against Monsanto scheduled for Saturday 11:00 a.m. at Vogel Plaza in downtown Medford. More than 700 have signed up to turn out to speak out against Monsanto and the multinational firm, Syngenta, which is growing GMO crops here in the Rogue Valley that threaten local natural crops. Events will start at 10:30 a.m. with the March starting at 11:00 a.m. Everyone is encouraged to attend to learn more about this issue. There will be a signmaking party today at 840 Harmony Lane in Ashland at 3:30 p.m. and a bakesale to fund the event at the Ashland Coop this a.m.
