ASHLAND, Ore. — A first-of-its-kind medical marijuana conference is coming to Southern Oregon.
The Oregon Medical Marijuana Business Conference will be held at the Ashland Springs Hotel in January. The event will focus specifically on the marijuana dispensary laws being created, educating patients and dispensary owners on how to navigate the system.
Its founder says it’s the only event in Oregon to be less about advocacy and more about how to follow the laws.
“What is the law, what are the rules and regulations, what is the application process, and what are good practices with any dispensary,” said Alex Rogers, CEO of Ashland Alternative Health.
Business owners will be allowed to apply to open a dispensary in March. The actual rules around dispensaries are scheduled to be finalized this month. Rogers says there’s still confusion among both patients and would-be dispensary owners.
