Medford Teachers Discuss Possible Strike

SchoolMEDFORD, Ore. – This Friday is the final weekday of winter break in the Medford School District and teachers and staff will return to work Monday with the possibility of a strike.

The Medford Education Association said it wouldn’t decide whether to strike until after the break. It says it’s holding a bargaining meeting on Sunday to discuss their next move.

If the union decides to strike, teachers will have to wait ten days before stopping work.

Do your research. The possible strike isn’t about money, it’s about working conditions which will greatly impact the students’ learning conditions.

It’s about working conditions. It’s about learning conditions. It’s about money, and it’s about promises the school district made and subsequently broke. Let’s all be honest and forthright and solve this before things get worse.

Just saw that the average elementary salary in Medford is…55K……starting salary is approx. 40K. One with lots of tenure is approx. 72K. Pretty good salary and not including benefits
