Medford Sees Burglary Increase

MEDFORD, Ore. — The number of burglaries is up significantly.

Just this weekend, 3 people were arrested in connection with a home burglary. Jimey Faber, Tyler Atler and Ashley Delong were arrested in connection with this most recent burglary.

Officers say burglaries are happening more often. In fact, they say through July there were 293 burglaries, up more than 33% compared to the same time last year. Medford Police say increased drug-use may be to blame.

“We’re seeing drug use at an all time high and when we have people that commit burglaries we often find that they’re doing it to support,” said Medford Police Lt. Mike Budreau.

Officers say one of the suspects in this case admitted to wanting to get money for drugs. Medford Police say drug offenses are up 27% through July.
