MEDFORD, Ore. — A man, with what police believed to have been a gun, caused an entire lock-down at south Medford High School on Thursday morning.
The incident happened near the intersection of Columbus Avenue and Brentcrest Drive. A passerby noticed a man sitting on the sidewalk with his legs stretched out on to the street and in between them was what appeared to be a semi-automatic pistol.
Police discovered the gun was actually a airsoft gun and arrested the man, 23-year-old Steven Walden for disorderly conduct. For safety purposes, Columbus was blocked off and South Medford High was locked down, but for a matter of minutes.
