MEDFORD, Ore. — The Medford Police Department is working on the first steps in process to construct a new police building.
Wednesday morning, a board met with potential architectural and construction firms to go over the bid process and discuss potential plans. Medford police currently operates out of City Hall.
City and police officials have agreed that the police need their own facility, and have organized funds to make the project possible.
Architectural and construction firms are expected to submit their plans and bids by April 2nd to be considered for the project.
Wednesday’s meeting was the first step in a long process. “It was their opportunity to come in, sign in and ask for any clarifications or any other issues they might have had to get cleared up before those proposals are due,” said Cheif Tim George.
Construction of the new police building is expected to begin sometime in 2015.
