MEDFORD, Ore. — Medford Police confirmed a body was found at the Medford Airport Authority linked to the cab incident near Almond Street and 9th Street.

On October 21st, 2012 at 1:02 a.m. Medford Police were dispatched to a report of a missing cab driver from Valley Cab. Valley Cab dispatch was unable to locate driver William Huson after he last contacted them at about 10:41 p.m. on October 20th, 2012, according to a press release. During the last contact, Huson told his dispatch he was taking a fare from Howie’s at 16 North Front Street in Medford to an unknown address on Vilas Road. They did not hear from him again.

Police said at 5:02 a.m. Medford Police located Huson’s cab parked unoccupied in a parking lot near 9th Street and Almond Street. Although Huson was not located, evidence suggested he was a victim of an assault.

Police said the Major Assault and Death Investigation Unit (MADIU) was summoned which included investigators from Medford Police, Oregon State Police, Jackson County Sheriffs, Ashland Police and the Jackson County District Attorney’s Office. Police said officers began checking the area of Vilas Road for the victim and located him in a field near Helo Drive, off of Vilas Road, at about 8:23 a.m. Huson was determined to be deceased, an apparent victim of homicide.

Investigators said they are not releasing the cause of death at this time, nor the possible motive at this time. Investigators said they do believe the suspect drove the cab from Helo Drive to the parking lot at 9th and Almond. Police say there are currently no suspects in this case. Anyone with information is encouraged to phone Medford Police at 770-4783, attention Det. Young (Case Agent).
