Medford Police Investigate Hotel Assault

Medford PoliceMEDFORD, Ore. — Medford Police say they are investigating an assault and robbery that was reported at Vali Hai Hotel on Wednesday.

Police say officers were dispatched to a report of an assault at the hotel at around 9 p.m. There, police say officers found an unconscious 44-year-old man suffering from head injuries.

Witnesses on the scene told officers that the victim was in his motel room when he had an unknown male visitor. Police say while inside the victim’s motel room, the suspect struck the victim several times with some type of a club, and then then took property from the victim. A 25-year-old woman was with the victim at the time of the robbery; she was not hurt.

Police say the suspect is only being described as a male, wearing dark clothing, black hoodie and a red bandana covering his face. He fled on foot in an unknown direction. Police are not disclosing what property was taken and are considering the fact this crime could be drug related.

Medford Police say the victim remains in the Intensive Care Unit at Providence Hospital. He is expected to survive his injuries. Anyone with information is asked to contact Medford Police Criminal Investigations Division at 541-774-2230, attn: Det. Smith.
