Medford Police Investigate Homicide

MEDFORD, Ore. — Medford Police are investigating a homicide that they say occurred Sunday on Almond Street in Medford.

Police say they were called to the Almond Street residence on Sunday afternoon on a report of an assault victim. Upon arrival, officers and paramedics found the victim inside his apartment suffering from severe head injuries. He was identified as 54-year-old Donald William Mack. Mack lived at the apartment where the assault occurred. Mercy Flights Ambulance transported him to Rogue Valley Medical Center; he was later declared dead at the hospital, less than an hour after the first police response.

Medford Police say detectives identified 29-year-old Travis Donald Asbill as the suspect in this case. A warrant for murder was issued for his arrest. Police were able to locate Asbill at an Eagle Point residence and was taken into custody without incident. Asbill will be lodged for one count of murder and his bail is set at $1,000,000. The Medford Police Department notes that Asbill is on parole for attempted murder.
