Medford Police Investigate Holiday Theft

Munn,PatrickMEDFORD, Ore. — A man in behind bars after a Medford couple came home from vacation to find their home robbed and their cars stolen.

After an investigation detectives found that 52-year-old Patrick Munn was committing mail thefts in the victim’s neighborhood. The accumulation of mail at the residence caused Munn to believe the occupants were out of town, resulting in the burglary.

Munn is being charged with burglary in the 1st degree, 3 counts of theft, 4 counts of identity theft, and several other charges. Munn is being held on $75,000 bail.

Medford Police say residents should remember to stop mail and newspaper deliveries if they go on vacation or out of town, as accumulation is a clear sign of vacancy.

USPS should stop the mail when requested. If the burglary is truly the result of mail pile up, the Post Office is to blame. The couple has a confirmation notice that their mail was to be stopped. USPS dropped the ball on this one.
