Medford Police Investigate Fraud Reports

MEDFORD, Ore. — Medford police are looking into a possible fraud ring. They say suspects are reportedly using stolen debit and credit cards to purchase gift cards at local stores totaling thousands of dollars.

Police say it’s happening at the 7-Eleven on Crater Lake Avenue, the South Medford Walmart and Sherm’s Food 4 Less. The scammers have been successful at the two Medford Walgreens locations as well as the stores in Grants Pass, Salem and Roseburg.

The victims are from all over the United States, even as far away as New York. Officers remind merchants to be checking ID with cards and consumers to keep a close eye on their accounts.
