Police Arrest Bank Robbery Suspect

MEDFORD, Ore. — Police confirm the man behind four robberies in a two-month period is now lodged in the Jackson County Jail. Medford Police arrested local man Christopher Wood for robbing the US Bank on North Phoenix Road and the Sterling Savings Bank on Stewart Avenue in Medford two times each.

Police noticed a pattern in the robberies and anticipated another attempt at the US Bank location inside of Albertson’s. On Saturday, Wood entered the bank and an employee recognized him. Police say the employee immediately pulled an emergency alarm and police were notified. The employees at the bank offered to help the man and confronted him while he was waiting in line. Police say the man left immediately following the encounter with employees.

Medford Police officers were able to locate him in a residential neighborhood, recovering cash and other evidence of the robberies. Wood was compliant and admitted to the four robberies. Three robberies occurred in December of 2012 and one occurred in January of 2013.

Wood claimed responsibility for robbing the US Bank location on December 1st and 30th of 2012. He also claimed responsibility for the robberies at Sterling Savings Bank on December 21, 2012 and January 25, 2013.
