MEDFORD, Ore. — A raise has been approved for Medford Police officers, but it could still take a while before it becomes official. The Medford City Council voted today on a 2% cost of living increase for MPD. The final vote was 6 to 2 in favor.
Since there were two votes in opposition, the issue was put forward for a second reading at an upcoming council meeting. Medford city councilors say the proposals keep officers’ wages consistent with other deparments in the state.
“There are cities in Oregon that are comparable to us, and actually, both the police and fire wages are established, via what the comparables are,” said Dick Gordon on the Medford City Council
Medford City Council members say the second reading could happen at one of the next council meetings this month.
