Medford Offering Holiday Parking Passes

MEDFORD, Ore. — The City of Medford is trying to make the holiday season safer this year.  In an effort to convince people to not drink and drive, businesses are handing out parking passes that allow people to keep their cars parked downtown overnight.

The Holiday Safety Parking Passes are being offered to any downtown establishment serving alcohol. They can buy the pass at Diamond Parking in Medford for $1.00 each.

Businesses can then give the passes to their customers.  All the customer has to do is place the pass in their windshield and they can leave their car parked downtown until 10 a.m. the following day.

“I think anything that keeps our streets safer during the holidays is a good idea,” said downtown visitor Michael Sunday.  “This time of year people are trying to be a little more festive, but you have to be more careful at the same time.”

The holiday parking passes are good for one use each.   A vehicle can get ticketed if it’s left in the parking spot after 10 a.m. the following day.  Parking downtown Medford on weekends is free.
