Medford Couple Stuck In Snow Rescued

MEDFORD, Ore. — A Medford couple is safe today after their car got stuck in three feet of snow on a BLM service road on New Year’s Eve.

The Jackson County Sheriff’s Office said Dave and Linda Guches of Medford were reported missing on Monday afternoon when they failed to show up at a friend’s cabin in southern Douglas County.

The Guches shared with friends the route they planned to take prior to leaving. The Sheriff’s Office credits that information with helping them locate the couple’s Chevy Sierra quickly.

The Sheriff’s Office said Mrs. Guches stayed with the vehicle while her husband went looking for help. Both were in good condition and were rescued from the woods with the assistance of a Search and Rescue Snow-Cat. The Jackson County Sheriff’s Office also thanked the Josephine County Sheriff’s Office for their assistance in this case.
