MEDFORD, Ore. — A Medford Police officer says he is taking an incredible opportunity by taking over as police chief in Springfield.
Deputy Chief Tim Doney has been selected to oversee the Springfield Department after a two-month search.
Doney has worked with Medford Police for the past 25 years, and has served as lieutenant and commander of the Medford Area Drug and Gang Enforcement Team. He said it was a bittersweet feeling to leave Medford, but that he could not pass up the opportunity.
“It’s been a long process, it’s been a couple of months. Grueling at times, but the more I’ve spent time in the Eugene-Springfield area, the better I feel about the decision,” said Medford Police Deputy Chief Tim Doney.
Doney will begin work in Springfield in December.
