MEDFORD, Ore. — Several businesses are gearing up to open doors across the Rogue Valley.
Howie’s on Front expanded to a location on East Main Street. The new space is a place for bands to take the stage. But the additional room at Howie’s is more than just space to cut loose on the dance floor.
“We’ve done some sporting events here, the Superbowl. We’ve got more TV’s put in, so we can do a lot more different events in this room,” said Howie’s owner David Hawkins.
Hawkins took over the space a few months ago when former tenants emptied out.
“I think its a boost to downtown. It adds another dimension. It’s another place to go for another reason, so hopefully it keeps on bringing people downtown and other businesses down here,” said Hawkins.
Another business is hoping to encourage shoppers. Natural Grocers will be calling the former National Furniture Store its new home. The store will sell organic food and vitamins. It’s set to open at the end of March. Another business also scheduled to open around the same time is the new Quality Market on East Jackson Street.
“This is going to be the premiere store on this side. He’s going to have a full deli, and he’s going to have a full coffee bar. He’s got all of the coolers in the world and this is going to be a first class place,” said Mattson Construction Company owner, Greg Mattson.
