MEDFORD, Ore. — The mayor of Medford is recovering at home from a heart attack.
The deputy city manager says on Saturday night, Gary Wheeler went to Asante. There, doctors performed a non-surgical procedure, where stents were put in to open blocked heart arteries.
He says the mayor is taking medication right now and returned home Tuesday. While he is recovering the city council president will resume his duties temporarily for council meetings.
“We just want the mayor to get better and get released from his docs so he can come back to work and we’ll go back home. It’s been business as usual,” said Deputy City Manager Bill Hoke.
There’s no word yet on when the mayor will come back to work.
